Version 1.2 — Effective date: 09 Jul 2026
1. Ownership of Device
The CompliChef Label Printer (Sunmi V2 and accessories) remains the property of CompliChef at all times.
You are renting the device for use in your kitchen operations. The device may not be sold, transferred,
or assigned to any third party.
Devices supplied may be new or professionally refurbished. All devices — regardless of condition —
are fully tested, factory reset, and configured by CompliChef before dispatch. Refurbished devices
are held to the same performance and condition standard as new units and carry the same rental terms.
2. Deposit (£200)
A refundable deposit of £200 is required before your Label Printer is shipped.
This deposit is held securely and will be refunded to your original payment method within
7 business days of the device being returned in acceptable condition.
The following table shows exactly how the deposit is handled in each scenario:
| Scenario |
Deposit outcome |
| Returned in good order within return window |
Full £200 refunded within 7 business days |
| Device lost, stolen, or irreparably damaged (see Section 6) |
Replacement charge (£150 or £100) deducted; remainder refunded |
| Returned damaged beyond fair wear and tear (not covered by Fair Play) |
Partial or full retention at CompliChef's discretion, based on repair cost |
| Device not returned within the return window (no valid reason) |
Full £200 retained — device is considered unreturned |
| Missing accessories only (charger/cable) |
Up to £25 deducted for replacement; remainder refunded |
Note on non-return: If a device is not returned within the 14-day return window
and no replacement charge scenario applies (e.g. the device has not been reported lost or stolen),
CompliChef will retain the full £200 deposit. This is distinct from the replacement charge in Section 6,
which applies only where the device has been confirmed lost, stolen, or irreparably damaged.
Once the return window passes without contact, the deposit is forfeited — not converted to a replacement charge.
3. Monthly Rental Fee (£30)
A monthly fee of £30 applies for as long as you have the Label Printer in your possession.
This fee covers device management, remote support, software updates, Fair Play coverage, and
3x rolls of 500 sticky labels per month.
How the £30/month is billed depends on how you added the Label Printer:
-
Added at signup (combined subscription): The £30/month rental is bundled into your
CompliChef subscription. You pay one combined monthly amount via Stripe that covers both your
CompliChef plan and the printer rental. Only the £200 refundable deposit is charged separately at the time of order.
-
Added after signup (standalone): The £200 deposit plus the first month's rental (£30)
— totalling £230 — is charged at the time of order via Stripe.
After the first month, the £30/month continues automatically via your Stripe subscription.
In both cases, the monthly rental fee continues to apply for as long as the device is in your possession,
and will continue until the device is returned to and received by CompliChef — regardless of whether
your CompliChef subscription is active.
The monthly fee is non-refundable, even if you do not use the device during that month.
4. Label Rolls
Your monthly rental includes 3x rolls of 500 sticky labels per month, dispatched automatically.
Additional rolls can be purchased separately if required.
Label rolls are dispatched to your registered business address. If you require a change of delivery address,
please contact support before the next dispatch date.
5. Acceptable Use & Device Management
The Label Printer is pre-configured with the CompliChef label printing application.
The device is managed remotely by CompliChef to ensure security, performance, and compliance.
You agree to:
- Use the device solely for legitimate business purposes related to your kitchen operations
- Keep the device in a safe location when not in use
- Maintain a reasonable standard of care for the device
- Not attempt to remove device management, root, or modify system settings
- Not install unauthorised applications (the device is managed and restricted)
CompliChef may remotely lock, wipe, or update the device as needed for security or operational reasons.
6. Loss, Damage, or Replacement
This section applies when a device is confirmed lost, stolen, or irreparably damaged
— not when a device is simply not returned within the return window (see Section 2 for that scenario).
If your Label Printer is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair, you are responsible for the replacement cost:
- £150 if the device is lost or irreparably damaged within the first 12 months
- £100 if the device is lost or irreparably damaged after 12 months
Where a replacement charge applies, your £200 deposit will first be applied against the
replacement charge. Since the replacement charge (£150 or £100) is less than the deposit, the remaining
balance (£50 or £100 respectively) will be refunded to your original payment method within 7 business days —
provided no other charges are outstanding.
If the device is stolen, you must provide a police crime reference number within 7 days of the theft.
Without a crime reference number, the loss will be treated as an unreturned device under Section 2,
and the full deposit will be retained.
7. Fair Play – Accidental Damage Policy
We understand that accidents happen in busy kitchens. Our Fair Play policy provides
protection for genuine accidental damage at no additional cost.
What's covered:
- Accidental drops resulting in device failure
- Liquid spills causing internal damage
- Other genuine accidents occurring during normal kitchen use
What's NOT covered:
- Intentional damage or misuse
- Damage caused by unauthorised repairs or modifications
- Theft or loss (replacement charges apply)
- Damage occurring outside of the business premises
- Cosmetic damage that does not affect functionality (scratches, minor dents)
- Print head wear from normal use (this is a consumable component)
How to claim:
Contact support immediately at support@complichef.co.uk or 07514 544477.
We'll assess the damage remotely if possible, or arrange for the device to be returned for inspection.
If covered by Fair Play, we'll send a replacement at no charge.
CompliChef reserves the right to determine whether damage qualifies as "accidental" under Fair Play.
Our decision is final. Repeated claims may result in policy review.
8. Cancellation & Device Return
You may cancel your Label Printer rental at any time by contacting support. Cancellation does not
happen automatically when you cancel your CompliChef subscription.
When you cancel:
- Your Stripe subscription for the monthly fee will be cancelled
- You have 14 days from the date of cancellation to return the device
- You are responsible for packaging the device securely
- You must use a tracked shipping service (proof of postage required)
- Device must be returned in good working order with all accessories (charger, cable)
If the device is not returned within 14 days, the full replacement charge (£150 or £100)
will be deducted from your deposit. Any shortfall will be invoiced separately.
Once we receive and inspect the device, your deposit will be refunded within 7 business days.
9. Shipping Responsibilities
Initial shipping (to you):
- CompliChef covers the cost of shipping the device to your registered business address
- Delivery is via tracked courier service
- You must sign for the device on delivery
Return shipping (from you):
- You are responsible for the cost of return shipping
- You must use a tracked service and retain proof of postage
- Device remains your responsibility until received by CompliChef
Return address will be provided in your cancellation confirmation email.
