The CompliChef Solo Labels Plan has two parts:
The Device is sold to you, not rented. Ownership passes to you when we receive payment in full. There is no security deposit, no onboarding fee, and nothing to return if you later stop subscribing.
You may operate between one and eight Devices on a single account. Your subscription begins on the date your payment is completed and continues monthly until cancelled in accordance with Section 5.
Nothing in these terms removes or reduces any rights you have under applicable law.
2.1 The Device: £310 per Device
£310 per Device is a one-off purchase price. It covers the Device itself, configuring it for your account, installing and licensing the CompliChef Labels application, function testing, and delivery to your registered UK business address. Delivery within the UK is included at no extra charge.
2.2 The subscription: £30 per Device per month
The monthly subscription covers:
Billing is processed through Stripe and starts on the date of purchase. For multiple Devices the monthly payment is £30 multiplied by the number of active Devices.
2.3 Prices and VAT
All prices are in pounds sterling. CompliChef is not VAT-registered and does not charge VAT. Monthly subscription payments are not refundable for a paid period during which you had access to the dashboard, even if unused.
Each active Device subscription includes a monthly supply equivalent to at least 500 standard labels, dispatched to your registered UK business address. Available label sizes are:
You may contact support to change your preferred label size, and you can buy additional label rolls at any time. The number of individual labels or rolls dispatched may vary by size and stock availability. Labels are part of the monthly subscription and are not separately refundable. If you cancel the subscription, label deliveries stop.
4.1 Fourteen-day change of mind
If you tell us within 14 days of delivery that you no longer want the Device, and return it unused and in its original condition and packaging, we will refund the £310 purchase price in full. Return postage for a change of mind is your responsibility. We will make the refund within seven business days of receiving and inspecting the Device.
4.2 Twelve-month warranty
Your Device is covered by a 12-month return-to-base warranty from the date of delivery. If it develops a fault through no fault of yours, contact support: we will repair or replace it within a reasonable time and pay the postage both ways. If we cannot provide a working Device within a reasonable time, you may ask for a refund of the purchase price instead.
The warranty does not cover deliberate damage, gross negligence, unauthorised modification, rooting or unlocking, or loss and theft. Cosmetic marks that do not affect operation are normal wear.
4.3 Accidental damage, loss and theft
The Device is yours, so accidental damage, loss and theft are not charged for by us and no deposit is applied — but they are also not covered by the warranty. We can supply a replacement Device at the then-current purchase price.
If a Device is lost or stolen, tell us as soon as reasonably possible so we can remotely lock it and protect your data. A locked Device holds no usable data for anyone who finds or takes it.
You may cancel the monthly subscription at any time by emailing support@complichef.co.uk or messaging WhatsApp 07514 544477. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid month.
You keep the Device. There is nothing to return and no exit fee. When the subscription ends, the web dashboard closes, label deliveries stop and the labelling app stops printing new labels. Your existing records remain readable and exportable for 30 days after cancellation.
You can restart the subscription later on the same Device at the price then current.
If a subscription payment fails, we will email you and retry. From the date of the first failed payment:
Updating your card or bank details at any point during this period resolves the matter with no further consequence. We do not charge late fees.
The Device needs periodic internet access to work correctly and safely. You should connect it to the internet, by Wi-Fi or another available connection, on at least three separate days in any rolling seven-day period, for at least 15 continuous minutes on each of those days.
That connection time is used to deliver security updates and application fixes, apply allergen data and label-template changes, validate your subscription and monthly label allowance, and enable remote support when you contact us.
This is a service requirement, not a charging provision. Failing to connect the Device does not create any payment obligation, and because the Device is yours we will never treat it as unaccounted for.
You must use the Device and the Solo Labels platform for legitimate food-business operations, take reasonable care of the Device, and follow reasonable operating instructions. The CompliChef Labels application, the dashboard and their content remain our intellectual property and are licensed to you for as long as your subscription is active; buying the Device does not transfer any rights in the software.
The CompliChef platform, labels and Device are tools designed to support your food-safety and kitchen-management procedures. They do not replace an appropriate food-safety management system, staff training and supervision, legally required records, allergen-management procedures, or compliance with applicable food-safety law.
You remain responsible for checking that all information printed on a label is complete and accurate; selecting appropriate dates; checking allergen information; applying correct labels to correct food; following storage and temperature-control procedures; and ensuring staff use the platform and Device correctly. You must check each label before relying on it.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
We may suspend or end your subscription by written notice if you fail to pay and do not correct the failure within the period set out in Section 6; seriously or repeatedly breach these terms; use the platform unlawfully; or we discontinue the Solo Labels Plan.
If we discontinue the service, no further subscription payment is due and we will refund the fair pro-rata unused portion of any paid period. You keep the Device in every case.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will give you at least 30 days' written notice before a material change affecting an existing subscription takes effect. If a change materially disadvantages you, you may cancel before it takes effect without an exit fee. No change will retrospectively alter a right that has already arisen or remove a right provided by applicable law.
12.1 Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
12.2 No waiver
If either party delays enforcing a right under these terms, that does not mean the right has been waived.
12.3 Severability
If a court or other competent authority finds part of these terms unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
12.4 Complaints
Please contact us with any complaint. We will acknowledge it and aim to provide a substantive response within five business days.
